San Francisco

San Francisco, you’re a little hard to read. We like you but we don’t love you. Unfortunately, we didn’t have enough time to bop (as we like), but we sure did eat alot.

C A R B   M E : diet starts tomorrow

Tartine : We get it. Tartine, you were absolutely ah-maz-ing. But, was it worth the 58 minute wait? To be completely honest, we aren’t so sure. Or, maybe we shouldn’t stop by on a beautiful Sunday at 2:30pm. We’ll take part ownership of this complaint. We ordered a chocolate cookie, a chocolate croissant, the morning bun and the pastrami sandwich. We would come back and wait in that line for the chocolate croissant and two morning buns.

The Mill : Being picked up from the SF airport by a life long friend who has an iced coffee and a slice of toasted raisin bread covered with nutella and lightly sprinkled with sea salt is the only way someone should be picked up! The Mill, you have our heart for your daily toasts.

Mr Holmes Bakehouse : The headquarter for the unicorn of pastries, the “cruffin.” The cruffin, is a croissant baked like a muffin, and filled with a daily-rotating flavor of sweet cream; salted caramel cream, chocolate passion fruit, apple pie, honey lavender, bourbon orange, and many more. Cruffins come out at 9am daily and guarantee they sell out by noon. Don’t fret, in case you miss out on snagging a cruffin, pastry chef Ry Stephen’s churro croissant and the chocolate passion fruit cream donut (donuts change daily) are close contenders.

State Bird Provisions : This husband and wife spot have created something magical (and something that is now trending). Once you get seated you will spot it – the “provisions” as they are called, slowly floating towards you on a custom dim sum cart. These “provisions” are bites of modern California cuisine with a Japanese twist. See something that catches your fancy? Grab it! Such provisions include: garlic bread with burrata, pork belly & citrus salad, steak tartare poke, roasted baby beets with smoked cod cream, etc. Next up, the pancakes! Order any or all of the pancakes. And lastly, don’t forget the dessert; for only 2 bucks, everyone should order a shot of the ‘world peace’ peanut muscovado milk – the perfect shot of sweetness.

Plowis Midwest country boy meets San Francisco China girl. eatatplow.com – but we couldn’t have said it better ourself. If you only brunch once while in SF, choose Plow. We ordered (2) mimosas (it’s brunch), lemon ricotta pancakes, the egg sandwich and the biscuit with honey butter. On the weekends expect a two hour wait for this farm-fresh fare.

Foreign Cinema : Oysters – they have an excellent lineup, mostly from California. They show movies in the courtyard – it’s one of the most romantic spots we visited while in San Francisco.

Burma Superstar : With a menu that offers 50+ items it’s hard to pick but it seems as though you honestly can’t go wrong with anything at this place. The restaurant uses inspiration from Thailand and India to make the most delicious Burmese dishes. We recommend the Tea Leaf Salad, Chicken with fresh Basil, Burmese Curry and Superstar Vegetarian Noodles.

*We don’t have any pictures that do justice for just how good the dishes were.

Enjoy feasting your way through The Golden City! XO!
